Tis is me just after takeoff in the Boeing 737-8200. First time in the -Max series of the 737, love the big displays 😍.
It’s interesting to realise how much is muscle memory. 10 years after flying the last flight with passengers, but still feels completely comfortable and normal.

•10 YEARS•

I can’t believe is has been 10 years ago that I landed the Boeing 737 for the very last time. It was a flight from Amsterdam to Naples and back.
I have great memories of my time as an airline pilot at @transavia and sometimes it still hurts that this part of my career ended at the age of 32.
Thanks to all my former colleagues for making it an amazing period of my life! 💋

Last Saturday I was invited to speak at @pilotcareerslive in Madrid. I shared my experience as an airline pilot, how I was able to fund flight school, losing my medical license and life as a simulator instructor. And all that in Spanish. Well, sort of 😂.

It all started with a dream. Or better said: a goal.
When I was 13 years old I decided I wanted to become a pilot. That being in the 90’s, there was no internet yet. I bought a book called ‘How to become a pilot’ (in Dutch). I knew absolutely nothing about what was needed to become a pilot, so this book was perfect for me. I learned about the different pathways and what subjects to choose in high school.
At this photo I’m 17 years old. My dad gifted me an introduction flight, to see if I would actually like being up in the air. I did and was even more determined to go for it.

Last week I flew the Airbus A320 for the very first time. In the simulator, obviously 😉. What a completely different way of flying an aircraft. Empty space in front of me, as the a320 is flown with a sidestick and not a yoke. I did really like the ECAM system, very helpful feature and so much easier to deal with failures compared to the B737. I truly enjoyed flying it, but I think I prefer the old school B737 way of manual flying.
